We are delighted to announce the new Colbert Quarter – a potentially transformative placemaking project that Property District/PLACEengage were delighted to be involved in – has been nominated in the ‘Sustainable Communities and Placemaking’ category for the Irish Planning Awards 2023!

The Property District team, incorporating PLACEengage, collaborated closely with C+W O’Brien Lead Architects for the Land Development Agency over this time and worked with key stakeholders such as the Limerick City and County Council, Health Service Executive, and CIÉ – Córas Iompair Éireann, and the local business community and residents, to shape this initiative.

Spanning approximately 69.5 hectares in the vicinity of Colbert Station, this project presents a unique opportunity to breathe new life into Limerick’s city centre. The collective efforts have culminated in the creation of an innovative spatial framework that envisions a sustainable and vibrant urban quarter. This seamlessly integrates residential, commercial, cultural, and leisure spaces, paving the way for new neighbourhoods that are both environmentally conscious and community-centric.

Congratulations to our partners and collaborators on this project. This recognition underscores the remarkable strides taken together toward shaping a brighter, more sustainable future for Limerick.

Best wishes to all of the project team attending the #IrishPlanningAwards 2023. We hope you will join us in celebrating the vision of Colbert Station – a true testament to the power of innovative design, collaborative partnerships, and unwavering commitment to sustainable placemaking excellence!
